25 Years of First Aid
Things have changed so much since Bostock was founded in 1984, here is a short description of the way we worked 25 years ago:
“In 1984 we used an upright Remington typewriter to write all our course information, just like the one in the picture, we went to the stationer for copying facilities then folded the A4 paper in 3 and hand wrote the 2000 addresses of companies we wished to inform about our courses
We made all our own triangular bandages on a home sewing machine from bales of cotton bought direct from Lancashire.
To start the business we borrowed £1500 to buy all the necessary equipment, including resusciannies, because the repayments on that amount could be covered by the amount of family allowance I got from the post office each week. Our first First Aid course was at Meltis sweet factory, which was great because they gave us masses of misshapen chocolates and Newberry Fruits. Jean Brown ”
Some things stay the same - we continue to offer our unique reminder service. This means that we will remind you al least three months before your certificate is due to expire, giving you plenty of time to book onto a course at your convenience.
